Elenia’s new contracts for local contracting bring work for years

Elenia’s public procurement competitive tendering of new local contracting regional partnerships has now been completed. The basic period of the contracts is three years, from February 2025 to the end of January 2028. The contracts include option periods until 31 January 2033. The total value of the contracts over the eight-year period will exceed EUR 240 million.

From the beginning of February next year, Elenia’s regional partners will be Elite Group, Eltel Networks Oy, Exsane Oy and Omexom.

“All four contractors have worked for Elenia as regional partners before. However, there will be changes in the contracting areas, with the responsible partner changing in six out of twenty contracting areas,” says Harri Salomäki, Head of Asset Management and Partnerships at Elenia.

“The contracts are very important for Elenia, as our locally operating regional partners are our customer-facing interface. The regional partners take care of constructing new electricity connections and repairing faults in the electricity network,” says Salomäki.

Taking into account the possible contract option periods, the contracts cover an eight-year period, which makes the long-term development of operations possible.

“Occupational safety, sustainability, our customers’ service experience, operational quality and security of supply are the foundations of partner cooperation and its continuous development. We put more emphasis than ever on these areas in the tendering process,” Salomäki adds.

“The local employment impact of our regional partnerships is significant. When we also take into account the employment impact of subcontracting chains, employment generated by us amounts to more than 300 annual work units per year,” Salomäki says.

Elenia’s electricity network area in Kanta-Häme, Päijät-Häme, Pirkanmaa, Central Finland and South and North Ostrobothnia is divided into 20 contracting areas, each with one responsible contracting partner. The agreements include electricity distribution network design, construction, maintenance, troubleshooting and service tasks.
