A lot more than just electricity
Elenia's network service fees provide a service that covers round-the-clock electricity supply, monitoring, maintenance, repair and renewal of the electricity network, responsibility for security of supply and cyber security, preparing for emergencies, metering of electricity consumption and production, customer service and billing, fault repair and the development of electronic services for customers. A lot more than just electricity,
The price of electricity consists of three parts: the electricity network service fee, the price of the electric energy and tax. Each part makes up roughly a third of the total price. The allocations may slightly vary depending on the place where the electricity is consumed and the consumption. As an electricity network company, Elenia charges electricity tax and VAT and remits them to the state. The sales companies do not charge electricity tax.
The place where the electricity is used is the deciding factor with regard to the network company supplying electricity to the site. You cannot change network companies, i.e. you cannot shop around for the lowest network service rate. Because customers cannot shop around for network services, the Energy Authority supervises the network service prices to make sure that they are fair.

Network Service Products
Choose the network service product that best suits your needs. For customers with main fuses exceeding 3x63 A, the network service product is capacity-based. You can use your electricity consumption data to determine the most suitable network service product in the Elenia Aina service. Our customer service team is also happy to help you choose the right product.
Fuse-based Network Service Products
For fuse-based network service products, the network service fee consists of a fixed basic fee based on the main fuse size and an energy distribution fee based on electricity consumption.
General Electricity
Our most common network service product. The product is suitable for customers who mostly use electricity during the daytime. The form of heating is usually other than electricity. The distribution fee remains the same day and night throughout the year. The general electricity product is the most cost-effective option when annual electricity consumption is less than 10,000 kWh.
The general electricity product is also applied to temporary use of electricity, such as the electrification of events and other temporary occasions.
Night-Time Electricity
The product is suitable for customers whose electricity consumption is concentrated during nighttime hours, for example due to electric heating or electricity storage-heating devices, and where annual electricity consumption exceeds 10,000 kWh. The distribution fee is lower during night-time.
Seasonal Electricity
The product is suitable for customers whose electricity consumption is high and concentrated during the summer season. The distribution fee is lower throughout the summer as well as during winter nights and Sundays. The product is particularly well suited to customers who can supplement electric heating with alternative heating solutions during the winter season.
Capacity-based Network Service Products
For capacity-based network service products, the network service fee consists of a fixed basic fee, an energy distribution fee based on electricity consumption, a power fee based on peak demand, and, where applicable, a reactive power fee for the portion of reactive power exceeding the free allowance.
Low-Voltage Power Tariff 1 (0.4 kV)
Suitable for businesses with main fuses larger than 3x63 A whose operations are mainly concentrated during daytime hours.
Low-Voltage Power Tariff 2 (0.4 kV)
Suitable for two-shift industrial operations and other businesses with relatively even electricity consumption throughout the day, main fuses larger than 3x63 A and high, stable electricity demand.
Medium-Voltage Power Tariff 1 (20 kV)
Suitable for large industrial and commercial customers with a demand exceeding 800 kW and a long annual utilization period. Electricity is delivered at 20 kV, and the customer is responsible for owning and maintaining the distribution substation.
Medium-Voltage Power Tariff 2 (20 kV)
Suitable for large industrial and commercial customers with a peak demand approaching 4 MW and a long annual peak-load utilization period. Electricity is delivered at 20 kV, and the customer is responsible for owning and maintaining the distribution substation.

Electricity tax
Electricity tax includes the electricity excise duty and the security-of-supply charge and it is based on the Act on Excise Duty on Electricity and Certain Fuels (1260/1996). As an electricity network company, Elenia charges the electricity tax on the electricity transmission invoice and remits it to the state. Households belong in tax category 1, where the electricity tax is 2,917875 c/kWH (includes effective VAT).
