Jorma Myllymäki continues on the Board of Directors of DSO Entity, the cooperation body of European distribution system operators

Elenia’s CEO Jorma Myllymäki has been re-elected to the Board of Directors of DSO Entity, the cooperation body of European distribution system operators, for a four-year term. He represents medium-sized distribution system operators in category 2 (100,000-1,000,000 customers) on the Board of Directors.

DSO Entity is a cooperation body of distribution system operators defined in EU legislation and operating at EU level, and its task is to promote the European energy transition. DSO Entity was established in 2021 under the EU Clean Energy Package. Myllymäki has served on Entity’s Board of Directors since its founding. Going forward, DSO Entity’s operations will cover gas and hydrogen distribution in addition to electricity distribution.

In the Board elections, Entity’s member companies voted for a candidate in their own category with votes pro rata to their number of customers. The choice of Jorma received strong support from medium-sized member companies in Finland and elsewhere in Europe. He collected almost 4.8 million votes in total. Approximately one-half of the votes came from Finland and one-half from the rest of Europe.

My appointment strengthens the position and visibility of Finnish and Finnish-minded distribution system operators in European energy decision-making. With the seat on the Board of Directors, we are even better positioned to bring up aspects that are important to us in terms of electrification, security of supply and security of supply in Europe. It is also great that my Finnish colleague Kristian Finell from Herrfors Nät-Verkko will continue to represent category 1 companies (fewer than 100,000 customers) on the Board of Directors, Jorma says with delight.

The seat on the Board of Directors also gives Elenia the opportunity to appoint an Elenia employee to the distribution system operators' Council, which operates in DSO Entity between the Board of Directors and expert groups.
